The island of aye aye - Mananara - Maroantsetra trekking - Madagascar - for 5 days

Day 1: Maroantsetra - Rantabe
Drive from Maroantsetra to Rantabe. Full of lush vegetation with magnificent scenery of rice field, lots of plantations like vanilla and cloves. Camping at Rantabe
Day 2: Rantabe - Fananehana
Leave Rantabe and start the trekking at both walking and criss-crossing the river by ferry boat; the landscape is becoming more and more interesting. Camping
Day 3: Fananehana - Manambolosy
Trekking takes place all along the beach side; with beautiful blue and greenish colour of both the ocean and the forest across from the sea till you reach Manabolosy. Camping
Day 4: Manambolosy - Mananara
The last day of this trekking ends at visiting the island of the Aye-aye which is the main interest of the trip since Mananara is the only place where you could surely find aye-aye; guaranteed. Stay at Hotel chez Roger or Aye- Aye hotel
Day 5: Mananara - Soanierana Ivongo
Drive from Mananara in a sloppy, slippery and rocky road which brings you toward the eastern beach coast. The service ends here but you can prolong your stay whether at Mahambo or going to Sainte Marie.
Option:
If you are interested in marine life, a day trip to the island of Nosy Atafana back to Mananara is very rewarding since it has the best marine reserve in the country.
