South trekking - Antsirabe - Ambositra - Ranomafana - Andringitra - Ranohira - Tulear for 13 days

Day 1: Tana

Arriving at Ivato international airport and meet Ortour representative for transfer to Anjary Hotel (midrange) ou Palissandre (top)

Day 2: Tana - Antsirabe


In the morning, leave Tana and drive to Antsirabe which lies 170km south of Tana in the national route number 7; it takes almost three to four hours drive to get there. Antsirabe is one of the coolest towns in Madagascar and it is the capital of the Pousse-pousse (rickshaw). Along the way, you can see many shops selling products made from raffia and Malagasy crafts as well. Arriving in Antsirabe, drive through the Tritriva Lake. In the city, there are lots of mining shops selling precious stones; visit the shop of Joseph.

Day 3-4-5: Antsirabe - Ambositra


After two hours drive from Antsirabe to Ambositra, the capital of woodcarving
Visit the workshop of Jean et Frères and a few other shops of craft.
Drive to Antoetra and continue by foot to Ifasina and the surrounding, two nights camping.

Back to Ambositra on the last day, overnight at hotel l'Artisan or Hotel Violette

Day 6: Ambositra - Ranomafana

This day, we leave Ambositra and our destination is to get to Ranomafana National Park; half an hour stops at Namorona waterfall.
Walk, and relax at the hotspring swimming pool.
Overnight at the Hotel Manja (midrange)

Day 7: Ranomafana


For the whole day, in the morning, just after breakfast, mild walk to the forest to see the Golden Bamboo lemur, Greater Bamboo lemur and many species of birds. In the afternoon, stay at the hotel Manja (moyen) or at hotel Centr'est (top); relax at the hotspring pool.

Day 8-9-10: Ranomafana - Andringitra

Leave Ranomafana to Ambalavao pass by Fianarantsoa and continue to Andringitra National Park. Andringitra is one of the most attractive parks because it has fabulous landscape form of rock hills with lovely waterfalls and beautiful plants.
A night at Gîte d' Andringitra (midrange)
Two nights camping (full board)

Day 11-12: Andringitra - Ranohira

Drive from Andringitra to Ranohira (Isalo National Park).
The National Park of Isalo is covered of 81 540 hectare with eroded Jurassic sandstone massif.
Isalo‘s topography is characterised by alternating flat grassy plains and sandstone ridges, sculpted by wind and water into fanciful shapes.
Stay at Hotel Orchidée (midrange comfort) or at Jardin du Roy/ La Reine (top)

Day 13: Ranohira - Tulear

Long drive toward the western capital of the Vezo fisher people. Along the way, just right after the Zombitse/Vohibasia national park which is home Appert's Greenbul, you can see a few species of Baobabs, and Mahafaly tombs. Lunch-Dinner, overnight at Victory or Paletuvier

Day 14: Tulear - Tana

Take a flight in the morning to get back to tana
