Descent toward Manambolo - Ampefy - Tsiroanomandidy - Morondava (May till November) for 10 days
Day 1: Tana
Arriving at Ivato international airport, clear customs and meet Ortour representative for transfer to Anjary Hotel (midrange) or at Colbert hotel (top) for overnight.
Day 2: Tana - Ampefy
Leave Tana and drive to Ampefy. About half hour drive; stop at Lemur Park where you could find 13 species of lemurs. After the visit, continue driving toward Ampefy which is located along the shore of Itasy Lake. The lake of Itasy is the third largest lake in the island which is situated about 120km west of Tana in a very well maintained road. Also, Itasy is recognized for its lakes, rivers, beautiful waterfalls, etc...Stay at Cavita hotel (midrange).
Day 3: Ampefy - Tsiroanimandidy
Half day visit and leave to Tsiroanimandidy where the plane is waiting for you to get to Ankavandra .Hotel Manambolo
Day 4: Fly to Ankavandra and then continue by a dugout canoe and enjoying fabulous landscape.
Camping
Day 5-6-7: Camping
You will be enjoying 3 days of camping in hope to see the marvelous scenery of Manambolo river, deep red-orange in color from eroded sediment, descending through a largely deforested landscape with magnificent colorful sandstone cliff and covering dry deciduous forest and canyons as well where lemurs such as the Decken's sifaka and the red-fronted brown lemur may be seen coming down to drink at the river's edge and on trees along the ridgeline.
In the lower part of the canyon, the river loses its current and becomes a pool. Windy conditions, especially in the afternoon, can make paddling this stretch a bit of a workout. Camping
Day 8-9: Tsingy
Arriving at Tsingy where you could encounter few lemur species including the Verreaux's sifaka, Common brown lemur, and possibly to see some bird species like the Giant Coua and Verreaux's Coua, and other more etc. start a half day walk at the small tsingy.
Overnight at Olympe de Bemaraha (midrange / top)
Relais de Tsingy (high midrange)
Day 10: Tsingy - Morondava
Drive to Morondava through the dry spiny forest, visit at the reserve of Kirindy; it covers approximately 10.000 hectares. The reserve is home to six species of lemurs, 32 reptiles and turtles. Stop at the Baobab alley.
Overnight at Kirindy Bungalow (midrange)
Day 11: Morondava - Tana
Take a flight from Morondava to get back to Tana.
